Coach Pep Guardiola has given Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero an extended break following the four-match ban he received for his horror tackle on Chelsea’s David Luiz.
The one week break granted by the manager to the player is aimed at boosting his performance when the striker returns to action on 31 December.
This break is deemed necessary as Pep Guardiola would be looking to mount a title challenge in January. Hence, he wants all his players to be firing on all fronts if they want to have a shot at the title.
Following the break, Aguero is expected to return later this week for training as City prepares to take on a resilient Liverpool team who are currently second in the Premier League table.
The Argentinian international who is a valuable asset to this Manchester team will need his batteries recharged if man city are to win any meaningful silverware this campaign
Guardiola following his four-match man has heavily defended Aguero – who has played 19 times for both club and country this campaign. The manager stated that the forward is not an overly aggressive player following the damaging reports from the media due to his tackle.
Although the striker looks to be having a torrid time this campaign, he has shown glimpses of class that has endeared him to the Man City fans for years. He has a total of 16 goals in all competition scoring five in his last 13 matches he featured in.
The striker’s performance over the years has been impeccable, and only very few strikers in the premier league can boast of his speed, power, dribbling skills and goal scoring ability. Hence, the 28-year-old after his suspension and the extended break will hope his form improves for the better as his team prepares for more crunch fixtures at Liverpool on New Year’s Eve.
