SUAREZ AND MESSI REIGN IN EUROPE

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been lethal so far this season as they sit atop the goal scoring charts in the Spanish La Liga. The duo also have the most lethal partnership in Europe’s top five leagues with 31 goals between them.

The next best partnership comes with Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani as they have plundered 25 goals between them for Paris St. Germain in the French Ligue 1.

It is also worth noting that no partnership in the English Premier League betters Messi and Suarez partnership record despite playing three more games than the La Liga Santander.

In the Premier League, the best partnerships are tied on 22 goals. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as well as Tottenham’s Son Heung Min and Harry Kane have plundered 22 goals between them this season. Arsenal’s Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang sit in third having scored 21 goals.

There have been only 17 games played in the German Bundesliga and yet, Borrusia Dortmund’s Marco Reus and Paco Alcacer have scored a combined total of 23 goals.

Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic lead the way in Italy scoring 22 goals between them and having played the same number of games as the La Liga Santander.

Back in the Spanish La Liga, no team has scored more goals than Messi and Suarez. Only Celta Vigo and Sevilla have recorded the same number of goals, 31.

Levante are just in behind both Sevilla and Levante as they have scored 31 also. Messi alone has scored more goals than Leganes, Valencia, Huesca and Real Valladolid with 17 goals.

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi have formed a fearsome partnership at Barcelona since Neymar opted to move over to France. However, they will be hoping to win the UEFA Champions League this season, having last won it in 2015.
