STERLING BENCHED FOR BIG CITY WIN

England international Raheem Sterling was on the Manchester City bench from start to finish as the Citizens moved four points clear at the Premier League summit thanks to the thumping win over Leeds United who were very poor during the league game played at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Raheem Sterling was left on the bench as manager Pep Guardiola opted to rotate his squad ahead of the publishing December schedule. The England man came into the Leeds United game on the back of joining the century club in the Premier League. Sterling scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spotas Manchester City beat Wolves 1-0 at home in the league with the assistance of the controversial penalty awarded in the second half at the expense of ten-man  Wolves who had star striker Raul Jimenez sent off in the first half after two quick yellow cards. Raheem  Sterling was able to score his 100th Premier League goal from 12 yards to give his team the points at stake.

Manchester City are the Premier League holders and they didn’t have much problems against Leeds United with Raheem Sterling on the bench. They raced into a three-goal lead in the first half thanks to the goals from Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne was the man pulling all the strings on the pitch as the Marcelo Bielsa-led Leeds United team had no answers. The Belgian international scored a brace during the game in what was a first league game from the start for the player who has been named on the 23-man FIFPRO XI nominees list. RiyadMahrez, Nathan Ake and John Stones also scored for Manchester City in the second half as they opened a five-point advantage at the Premier League summit.
