Manchester City Give Update On Star Trio For Brighton Game

Ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given a fitness update of three of his superstars. With questions raised as to whether or not Raheem Sterling, Sergio Agüero, and Aymeric Laporte will be fit for the match, here are the key updates.

The Citizens will be heading into the game without the presence of up to five stars according to the club’s head coach. First, of all, veteran star striker Agüero will remain out of the tie as he is still following the UK government’s self-isolation protocols following his contact with someone that had earlier tested positive for Covid-19.Although Agüero has tested negative for the virus, merely coming in contact with someone who tested positive is enough reason for him to self-isolate. The Argentine star missed the Sunday victory over Birmingham in their FA Cup Clash as a result of the quarantine.

On Agüero, Pep said he will be out because he is quarantining and wants to of course follow government rules and regulations.

Laporte and Nathan Ale will also both miss the Brighton clash while Agüero is joined in self-isolation by Cole Palmer and Eric Gracia after undergoing their tests. Pep said Laporte and Ake are both out injured but Cole Palmer and Garcia are both solitary.

After missing three games, goalkeeper Ederson is set to return in goal for City while Raheem Sterling is expected to feature in the game as he has no injury concerns or covid-19 symptoms. The Englishman was completely left out of the squad that played Brighton but is expected to return to haunt the Brighton defense. Ferran Torres has completed his self-isolation task and is also available for selection for this tie. He missed the Sunday game due to a lack of match fitness.
