Besiktas president explains reason behind Fabri sale

Besiktas president FikrerOrman has revealed that the club had no option but to sell Fabri to Fulham as he had just one year left on his contract. The 30-year-old was the Black Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper over the past two seasons but they nevertheless decided on his sale with the fear of losing him on a free next summer.

Speaking to reporters, Ormansaid: “Fabri had a year left on his contract so we needed to send the player to the Premier League or we’d have come out empty next summer.” Fulham are said to have paid around £5m for the former Deportivo graduate and the shot-stopper is now expected to compete with Marcus Bettinelli for the number one role, considering former number one David Button has made his way to Brighton & Hove Albion.

USA Beat Honduras To Save WC Hopes

The U.S. men’s national team didn’t play well but got the job done on Tuesday in Honduras, bagging a 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifiers, thank to Bobby Wood’s late goal. The Americans avoided disaster and greatly boosted their chances of qualifying for Russia 2018 just when it looked like their cup lives would be coming to an end.

The job was done by Woods as he came off the bench for the second half and put the ball away. And he did just that with an attentive finish late in the game. It wasn’t pretty, but it never was going to be down in San Pedro Sula in a hot, hostile environment. If the U.S. makes the World Cup, this is the goal many will remember as key to qualification.

The U.S. is still in the top three in the hexagonal with two games to go against the two “easiest” teams in Panama and Trinidad and Tobago. It won’t come easy, but Tuesday’s result could mean that the USA vs. Panama game on October 6 is the decider. A win at home would all but assure the U.S. finishes inside the top four, meaning at worst the team will have a two-game playoff to make the World Cup. If the team’s health to make the World Cup was OK entering this one, it’s been upgraded to good after this result.

Every team goes through ups and downs, and though fans expected four points from these last two matches and only got one, things are still good. The Costa Rica match was an upset and disappointing, but don’t take too much away from what you saw from the U.S. at Honduras. It was played in the high 90s in one of the most hostile places in CONCACAF.

It’s not a delightful trip to head to San Pedro Sula, and it was always going to be a scrappy game with a few big moments when on the road. And the U.S. took advantage of the big moment and got what it needed.

CRESSWELL PRAISES TEAMMATE HERNANDEZ

West Ham United man Aaron Cresswell has praised the exploits of his teammates Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez even as they lose to Southampton in the Premier League.

The Irons were set to get a point in their second game against the Saints following their 4-0 loss to Manchester United.

However, things broke down at the end as the referee awarded the hosts a stoppage time penalty. Southampton converted the opportunity to claim all points from the 3-2 thriller.

Hernandez struggled to touch the ball in the first game against Man United but he scored two crucial goals against Southampton. Marko Arnautovic was sent off in the fixture but the east London side could have still gotten a share of the spoils before the stoppage time goal.

It is mixed feeling at the London stadium as Winston Reid picks up a serious injury – yet another potential long term layoff for SlavenBilic’s men. Reid agreed to a new six year deal but he could not celebrate it as much. He was stretchered off at St Mary’s and Angelo Ogbonna called in as replacement. World Cup 2018: Argentina appoint Jorge Sampaoli as new Boss

Argentina have announced the arrival of Jorge Sampaoli as their head coach following his decision to end his year-long stint with Spanish club Sevilla.

The 57-year-old had a good national record with the Chilean national team prior to opting for the job with Sevilla last summer.

Sampaoli made a bright start to his La Liga stint with Sevilla but the club’s form disintegrated in the second half of the campaign as they managed to hold the final Champions League spot. Sampaoli had been approached by the Argentina FA late last month, and it is now official that he will take charge of The Cowboys in training ahead of their friendly against Brazil on June 9.

The South American nation have already dismissed two managers in their World Cup campaign with Gerardo Martino and Edgardo Bauza losing their jobs but Sampaoli was thrilled to receive his long-lived dream of managing his nation, he said: “It is a dream that I cherished for ages. This is a position I always admired — It generates a lot of dreams and passion.” Continue reading World Cup 2018: Argentina appoint Jorge Sampaoli as new Boss

BARCELONA, MADRID AND REST TO COMPETE FOR AGUERO

Manchester City ex star Shaun Goater has revealed that Sergio Aguero might exit the Etihad this summer.

The striker has had decent success in front of goal but he might eventually leave the club.

Goater says the Argentine was dropped from his number one role when Gabriel Jesus came in so he would likely exit the club when the transfer window opens up.

“I hope he’s a player who will still be here come next season. I don’t think he will be. I don’t think he wants to go. I just feel what he’s done for the club for five or six seasons, he probably feels that we should be treating him as Messi is being treated at Barcelona,” Goater opined.

The pundit added that Real Madrid, Barcelona or PSG would come in a hurry to swoop him if he wants out from City. He said Aguero comes next in line after the class of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ahead of the Manchester derby, Aguero told Sky Sports that he has always anticipated and played in derbies all his life: from Independiente and Racing to Atletico and Real Madrid before the City and United derby.

The player has the highest number of goals for City in the Manchester derbies. When asked he said he preferred winning over just scoring gaols. He is expected to lead the attack as City host United on Thursday.

Aguero said the City team was not as lucky this year. He admitted that they started well before they lost track of their momentum at some point. He said the team gave Monaco a bit of space in the away match and they paid dearly for it. He said the same thing happened in the FA Cup where they crashed to Arsenal. He described it as a “tough year” for the club. Continue reading BARCELONA, MADRID AND REST TO COMPETE FOR AGUERO

Sergio Aguero does not care about his transfer rumors

For the past few weeks and even months, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has been linked with a potential move to another club.

There are various teams that have been rumored to be interested in signing the 28 year old Argentinean attacker including: Athletic Madrid, Paris Saint- Germain, Liverpool, Barcelona and Chelsea.

Those are the high-profile clubs that in some way or another have recently been rumored to be interested in securing the services of Sergio Aguero.

One of the main problems that might arrive from signing the highly-rated and praised Aguero is the fact that Manchester City had to offload €45 million in order to sign him and this was back in July of 2011.

Sergio Aguero is hands down one of the best players of Manchester City and in order for Pep Guardiola to even be interested in releasing one of his key figures, a good enough offer in the region of around at least €80 million will have to be offered. SUSPENSION: AGUERO GRANTED ONE WEEK BREAK

Coach Pep Guardiola has given Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero an extended break following the four-match ban he received for his horror tackle on Chelsea’s David Luiz.

The one week break granted by the manager to the player is aimed at boosting his performance when the striker returns to action on 31 December.

This break is deemed necessary as Pep Guardiola would be looking to mount a title challenge in January. Hence, he wants all his players to be firing on all fronts if they want to have a shot at the title.

Following the break, Aguero is expected to return later this week for training as City prepares to take on a resilient Liverpool team who are currently second in the Premier League table.

Brendan Rodgers Warns about ‘Explosive’ Sergio Aguero

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers says that his players will have to be aware about the explosive talent within Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine forward has been one of the top goal scorers in Europe at the start of this campaign. He has already netted more than 10 goals in all competitions and will be the player to watch when Manchester City visit Celtic Park for the second Champions League group match. City also come into the game with a 100% record under Pep Guardiola since the start of the campaign. Aguero continued his fine form by scoring twice in the 3-1 win against Swansea during the weekend.

There is a very good possibility that Celtic could suffer a thrashing similar to the opening game against Barcelona. Rodgers and his team went with a lot of confidence into the game at the Camp Nou only to return with a 7-0 mauling. The Scottish club cannot afford to suffer a repeat especially since they are at home. Rodgers will be very focused on the aspect of defending. Unlike prior to the game against Barcelona, the former Liverpool boss was especially cautious with his approach to the game. Aguero has been in superb form and is already one of the favourites to win the European Golden Boot award if he continues on this vein of form.

“It is a difficult game of course.I have come across Aguero many times, I know his qualities and know the level he is at.His first goals in English football was against my team Swansea when he came on as substitute – and he actually cost more than our stadium at Swansea cost.He is a big talent, one of the leading strikers in the world but as a team they are operating at a really high level. They are world-class players working really hard,” said Rodgers.

Sergio Aguero has revealed that he will return to Argentina at the end of his Manchester City contract

Manchester City and Argentina striker has revealed that he will leave the England club once his contract is over. He said that he has no intention of signing another contract with Manchester City, and he will not play for another European club. His current contract will expire in 2019.

He stated that after the next World Cup in 2018 he will be leaving the Manchester club and that he wants to return to his home country. He said that his dream is to play for Independiente and to end his career there. He stated that he is enjoying playing with Manchester City and that the fans and all the players have been kind to him.

He said all his friends and relatives know that he is returning to Argentina as soon as his contract with Manchester City is over. He stated that he has nowhere to go in Europe and that it was always his dream to end his career in his home country.

However, he wants to win as many trophies as possible with Manchester City before the end of his contract. Sergio Aguero has said that it was a pleasure for him to work under Pellegrini and wants to thanks the Chilean manager for everything he has done for the club.

AGUERO ON THE BENCH AT COPA AMERICA AS ARGENTINE DEFEAT VENEZUELA 4-1

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was at the bench as Argentina set up a semi final clash with the United States, after thrashing Venezuela 4-1 at the quarter final stage.

Aguero has been playing second fiddle to Napoli forward, Gonzalo Higuain at the continental tournament and is set to continue. Higuain grabbed a brace to quiet speculations that Kun Aguero may be called to take over the lead strike role.

Aguero has started just one of the group games as Higuain has been favoured more. Aguero said earlier that he was comfortable with his playing time so far. He scored the last in the 5-0 thrashing of Panama, despite joining in the goal scoring spree in the last 14 minutes.

Coach Gerardo Martino is set to lead the national team to their first glory in 23 years and Aguero says he has no problem as far the team succeeds. Aguero said:
“To be honest I don’t know how we will play, but I think I will stay on the bench and I must be prepared when the coach needs me. I knew this could happen because ‘Pipa’ (Higuain) had a fantastic season in Italy. I always try to do my job the best way possible and we should be happy of being here.”
