Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to carry out a mini surgery on his squad this summer and Raheem Sterling could be one of the players to make way for new signings.

Apart from the Gunners, Raheem Sterling has been linked with their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur as a potential makeweight in a deal for Harry Kane. It is no secret that England national team captain Kane is one of the players on the transfer list at City. The Spurs man could be their replacement for Sergio Aguero. All-time leading goalscorerAguero is on his way to Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga having agreed a two-year deal and has even been unveiled by the Catalans though the Argentine won’t start training with them officially until his City contract expires later this month.

Raheem Sterling and Brazilian player Gabriel Jesus have both been discussed in a possible swap deal with Spurs for Kane but Sterling could be a big problem for the North Londoners due to his big wages.

Spurs would be able to afford the £90,000 that Gabriel Jesus earns at City but it becomes difficult with Sterling who takes home £300,000 on a weekly basis at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta worked with Sterling while he was the assistant amongst to Guardiola at City and the Gunners would be able to agree a weekly fee with the player thus making a move to the Emirates Stadium a likely proposition than a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
